New rules for instant credit transfers

They won't cost more than ordinary credit transfers

There has been a new rule since 9 January 2025: Poste italiane and banks that already provide their customers with instant credit transfer services are required to apply fees to instant credit transfers that are no higher than those already applied to ordinary credit transfers.

In addition, banks that already offer ordinary credit transfers will have to allow their customers to receive instant credit transfers as well.

The recommendation to be very careful with instant transfers still applies because, once a payment order is placed, the payer might not be able to recover the funds before they are credited to the payee's account. For this reason, it is always necessary to check that the IBAN is correct and corresponds to the intended payee: we could make a typing mistake or be the victim of a scam!
