'Generation Euro Students' Award' is back!

The 'Generation €uro Students' Award' is back! This year's annual team competition is open to students in the final two years of upper secondary school. It is dedicated to those willing to learn more about how monetary policy works and to compete in a compelling challenge on key and current economic topics. The competition is organized by the national central banks of the euro area countries participating in the initiative - in Italy, it is managed by Banca d'Italia.

Registration for the new edition can be made by 2 March 2025, on the official website www.generationeuro.eu, which is also available in Italian. The website provides all the necessary information and is the starting point to access the first phase of the competition. The three finalist teams will win a trip to Rome to take part in the final round on 14 April 2025 at Banca d'Italia's headquarters.

Teams must consist of four or five students and be led by a teacher. Each student may participate in one team only, while a teacher may coordinate several teams, either from the same class or from different classes.

The competition will follow this schedule:

  • by 2 March 2025: Registration and online quiz (a pre-selecting multiple-choice quiz on the euro and the European System of Central Banks - ESCB);
  • between 4 and 20 March 2025: Teams having passed the pre-selection phase will be informed and invited to upload on the website a presentation on a hypothetical monetary policy decision by the European Central Bank (ECB), based on the current economic context.
  • 14 April 2025: The three best teams will win a trip to Rome to compete in the final round at Banca d'Italia's headquarters.
