The 2025 Global Money Week draws to a close

Growth and awareness at the heart of the 2025 edition

Global Money Week 2025, the global awareness-raising campaign dedicated to the financial literacy of young people promoted by the OECD, ended on 23 March. The theme of this edition, 'Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow', was aimed at raising awareness among young people about the importance of improving their financial skills to make independent, uninfluenced and unbiased financial decisions, and of developing a critical approach to information sources.

During the event, coordinated in Italy by the Committee for the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities (Comitato Edufin), nearly 400 financial education events took place across Italy, mainly aimed at young people, marking an increase compared with last year.

Banca d'Italia contributed to GMW 2025 with around 220 educational workshops, conducted by staff from branches throughout the country, involving more than 9,000 students from primary to high school level.

'The Imaginary Friend was an educational workshop on planning your spending, designed for primary school pupils.  The children involved created imaginary characters and managed their expenses based on an assigned budget.

Secondary school students were involved in educational workshops on digital payments and on how to recognize and protect themselves against online scams. They were also involved in discussions on climate, economic and financial changes.

Banca d'Italia's efforts to promote financial education in schools continue beyond Global Money Week with the programme All for One, Economics for All!.
