The organizers
The European Central Bank (ECB) and the national central banks (NCBs) of the countries taking part in the challenge are not commercial banks: they are institutions, like a parliament or a constitutional court. They do not open accounts or grant loans; their main task is to keep inflation under control - that is, to prevent prices from rising too quickly. Together, the ECB and the NCBs of the countries that use the euro form a group known as the Eurosystem. For more information, visit the website of the European Central Bank.
