Blind and visually impaired people
For people who are blind or visually impaired, Banca d'Italia has developed:
- audio versions of the Guides in simple and straightforward language, created in collaboration with the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI). These guides explain, in a simple and clear way, how common financial services work (such as current accounts, mortgages, consumer credit, and online payments), as well as the Central Credit Register—an archive of debts with banks and financial institutions managed by Banca d'Italia;
- a series of audio clips on money and alternative payment methods to cash, also in partnership with the UICI. These are available on Banca d'Italia's YouTube channel;
- an audiobook version of "La ricchezza delle emozioni" ("The wealth of emotions") by Guido Scarpelli, in collaboration with the UICI. The book explains key economic and financial concepts in a straightforward and engaging way, using examples from literary masterpieces;
- the podcast series "Pillole di educazione finanziaria" ("Financial education nuggets"), in collaboration with Slash Radio, the UICI's web radio station. All episodes are available on the Slash Radio website.

Banca d'Italia branches regularly host workshops to help blind and visually impaired people identify the denomination of banknotes by touch and spot counterfeits. For more information, contact your nearest branch.
