Interest calculator

Categoria:
Calcolatori

This calculator helps you estimate how a lump-sum deposit or other initial investment might grow over the years, including any regular additional payments, based on a set of assumptions: annual interest rate (or expected return), frequency of additional contributions (monthly or yearly), and frequency of interest calculation (monthly or yearly).

The estimate is shown for simple interest and compound interest.

With simple interest, the interest earned at the end of each period is treated as if it were withdrawn or left uninvested. With compound interest, instead, the interest earned is reinvested at the same rate, so it earns further interest. Compound interest — that is, reinvesting returns — can significantly increase the value of your investment over time.

Any additional contributions are assumed to be made at the end of each period (month or year). The frequency of contributions cannot be shorter than the interest calculation period.

Please note: the higher the return you hope to achieve on your investment, the higher the level of risk you will need to endure. Before making any decisions, seek information from reliable sources (such as the financial press, websites of recognized institutions, and qualified financial advisors) and carefully assess your risk aversion — that is, how much loss you are prepared to endure.
