Global Money week 2022

Since 2015, Banca d'Italia has actively taken part in Global Money Week, an international initiative aimed at children and young people, starting from early childhood. Launched in 2012, the initiative has reached more than 40 million young people in 175 countries worldwide. Its overarching goal is to raise awareness among youth about the importance of developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to make informed and responsible financial decisions.

Since 2020, the GMW has been promoted by the OECD at an international level, and since 2021, the Committee on the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities Committee on the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities has been responsible for organising GMW activities in Italy.

The theme of Global Money Week 2022 was "Build your future, be smart about money", highlighting the strong link between managing one's finances wisely and building a secure and sustainable future. The message echoes the five key money tips promoted by the Committee.

To mark the occasion, Banca d'Italia organised 48 educational workshops through its regional branches, engaging around 3,000 students from across the country.
