Global Money week 2023

Since 2015, Banca d'Italia has taken part in Global Money Week (GMW), an international initiative dedicated to young people, starting from early childhood. Since its launch in 2012, GMW has reached over 53 million children and young people in 176 countries worldwide. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of developing the knowledge and skills they need to make informed and responsible financial decisions.

Since 2020, the GMW has been promoted by the OECD at an international level, and since 2021, the Committee on the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities has been responsible for organising GMW activities in Italy.

The theme of the 2023 edition was 'Plan Your Money, Plant Your Future'. This powerful message emphasised the connection between managing personal finances and building a sustainable future – one that is mindful of both environmental and social responsibility.

For this edition, Banca d'Italia, through its local branches, delivered 135 educational workshops, reaching around 6,500 students from all over the country.
