Global Money week 2025
Since 2015, Banca d'Italia has taken part in Global Money Week (GMW), an international initiative promoted by the OECD and dedicated to young people, starting from early childhood. Since its launch in 2012, GMW has reached more than 60 million children and young people in 176 countries worldwide. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of developing the knowledge and skills they need to make informed and responsible financial decisions.
Since 2021, the Commmittee on the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities has been responsible for organising Global Money Week activities in Italy.
This year, Global Money Week will take place from 17 to 23 March 2025 and the theme is: 'Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow'. This edition of GMW aims to encourage young people to build strong financial literacy and develop a critical approach to information sources.
The rise of digital finance and the changing ways young people access information and use financial services online – from the growing influence of financial influencers (so-called finfluencers) to the increasing use of artificial intelligence – make it more important than ever to identify trustworthy and impartial sources and to choose financial products and services critically and in line with one's needs.
Once again this year, Banca d'Italia is offering a wide range of educational workshops for young people across the country. If you are a teacher and would like to take part with your class, click the image below to discover the rules of the game and how to get involved!
