All for one and one for all! Programme for primary education students
Banca d'Italia offers a dedicated programme for students enrolled in Primary Education degree courses, which qualify graduates to teach in nursery and primary schools.
The aim is to enhance future teachers' university education with basic economic and financial knowledge, which they can incorporate into classroom teaching. Students learn from Banca d'Italia experts about the five key topics featured in the school-level educational materials: income and planning, money and prices, payments and purchases, saving and investing, and credit.
These financial education seminars are typically included in "indirect training placements", starting in the second or third year of the degree course. Each of the five topics is covered in a one-hour lecture delivered by Banca d'Italia experts. The seminars are complemented by hands-on workshops where students develop teaching methods, strategies, and materials to introduce financial education in primary schools.
To explore the content and results of the project further, participating universities share their experiences in the section The Ideas Lab, supporting educational innovation and the exchange of best practices.
