Research and surveys

Through its research and analysis activities, Banca d'Italia monitors levels of financial literacy across the population, identifies areas where improvement is needed, and develops strategies to strengthen citizens' economic and financial capabilities.

A key tool in this effort is the regular administration of nationwide surveys to assess financial literacy in Italy. These studies help measure people's financial knowledge and behaviour, highlight the most vulnerable groups, and identify the topics where targeted action is most needed.

In addition to promoting training and awareness-raising initiatives, Banca d'Italia also works to evaluate the effectiveness of financial education programmes. Using rigorous analysis and state-of-the-art empirical methods, it assesses the outcomes of these activities to continuously improve educational strategies and maximise their real impact on individuals.

With this commitment, Banca d'Italia aims to support more informed financial choices, strengthen inclusion and trust in the financial system, and contribute to the overall wellbeing of individuals and the country's economic development.
