School

Classe mano alzata

For young people, having economic and financial skills is essential to face the present and build their future well-being. Every day, girls and boys make financial decisions: they make online payments, choose whether to save or spend their money right away, and plan their educational and professional paths. As they grow older, depending on their goals, they will make decisions about saving, investing, and taking out loans.

Knowing more about economics and finance not only helps individuals feel more confident in making personal decisions throughout different stages of life but also provides a better understanding of how society functions, thus encouraging active and informed citizenship.

School is the ideal place to lay the foundation for economic and financial literacy in the country and to help young people become familiar with basic economic concepts, starting from concrete experiences, interpreting reality, and engaging in discussions with peers in a collaborative learning environment.

Banca d'Italia is committed to supporting schools in promoting economic and financial literacy among young people. Since 2008, Banca d'Italia has been promoting financial education for youth and collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Merit and with schools to make financial education a relevant and engaging subject for students.

This section outlines the financial education initiatives designed for schools, teachers, and students: training opportunities for schools at all levels, teaching resources for classroom use, games and quizzes for students, and events dedicated to financial education.

Teachers can tailor Banca d'Italia's programme to suit the specific needs of their classes.
