Consumer rights and protections

Banking and financial customers benefit from a system of protections designed to safeguard them in their dealings with banks and other intermediaries. Foremost among these are transparency rules, which require intermediaries to provide clear and understandable information about their products and services.

In addition, there are mechanisms for individual redress, such as complaints submitted to Banca d'Italia and appeals to the Banking and Financial Ombudsman (ABF), which assist customers when issues arise.
